San Francisco

Wax That Ass is a series of interactive butt sculptures that aim to combat and comment on sexual harassment. They are casts molded from actual women's butts that incorporate technology, such as buttons and sensors, that once provoked, project different sounds and phrases. The sculptures are specific to the individual women that have been molded, and the audio recordings in the sculptures help to share their stories of harassment. This series collaborates with brave, strong, and fierce women who have experienced harassment and assault. This series is intended to not only allow their stories to be told but their voices to be heard, in a way that can't be ignored. These sculptures are then presented in site-specific, guerilla installations around the city, precisely where they have personally experienced harassment.

Why Butts?

All women have butts; however, not all women have vaginas, and I wanted to ensure that trans womxn were included in this series. This series focuses on female-identifying individuals.
